In the heart of the Egyptian Western Desert, Dakhla Oasis is a territory still pristine and authentic, rich in history and full of primordial energy. Wael Abed, expert explorer and scholar of the Sahara, fell in love with the place and chose it for building his long-term dream: an eco-resort where discerning guests could enjoy the beauty of desert life. Respecting the environment, but doing it with style. His 'creation', built from scratch in a remote corner of the oasis, is Al-Tarfa Desert Sanctuary, a resort where the respect for nature and the caring for local heritage and community life go hand-in-hand with a high level of service and elegant architecture (inspired by that of the traditional Saharan Oasis). Abed lives on the property with his family and staff who are all local employees. Together they help the guests to discover the secret treasures of Dakhla, the Arabic ghost-town of el-Qasr (X-XII Century), and the majestic landscape of the desert.
